Overview

Eligibility

• Indian citizen. Punjab domicile certificate required for reservation benefits (not older than 5 years).
• Age: minimum 18 years; maximum 37 years for General category as on 1 January 2026 (relaxations apply).
• Educational cut-off: qualifications must be completed by 22 October 2026 (last date to apply).
• Head Draftsman: Diploma in Civil Engineering or Civil Draftsman certificate from Punjab State Board of Technical Education (or equivalent).
• Law Officer: Law degree + minimum 3 years experience as Advocate at Bar.
• Legal Assistant: Law degree + minimum 2 years experience at Bar (one post requires degree in Law only).
• Accountant: B.Com + competitive test qualification + 120-hour IT course or DOEACC ‘C’ Level equivalent.
• Matric with Punjabi (compulsory or elective) is mandatory for direct recruitment to Punjab government posts.

How to apply

1. Visit https://sssb.punjab.gov.in and click “Apply Online”.
2. New users: click Registration — your email becomes your User ID and password is generated.
3. Log in and fill personal, educational, and category details carefully (category cannot be changed later).
4. Upload passport-size photograph (or capture live photo) and scanned signature — incomplete forms are rejected.
5. Attach annexures: 10th certificate, educational certificates, and other required documents in PDF format.
6. Pay application fee online (₹1,500 or ₹750 for Punjab SC).
7. Click Submit only after successful payment — save and print the confirmation page.
8. Applications without fee payment are treated as incomplete and rejected.
9. No corrections allowed after final submission.

Selection process

• Objective-type MCQ written examination for all eligible applicants.
• Each correct answer: 1 mark. Each wrong answer: 0.25 marks deducted (negative marking).
• Merit list prepared on written exam marks; tie-breaker by date of birth (older candidate preferred).
• Document verification for candidates in merit — counselling as per board decision.
• Final recommendation to concerned department after successful verification.
• Exam syllabus, roll numbers, and dates published on sssb.punjab.gov.in — check regularly.
